About us

Let BE yourself

It was a hobby to draw black lines by toothpicks since childhood so I used to feel that every character should be drawn with black outlines in order to look good.

Winning awards in drawing competitions during early education also encouraged me to paint. Because of studies, this dream was set aside until I met an Australian artist in 2004 that I picked up the painting brush and learnt to draw and paint in oil at first; After returning to Hong Kong, my painting scope has been broadened under the guidance of Hong Kong artists, Wilson Shieh and Li Yau Mang in the Visual Arts Centre in Hong Kong and completed a certificate of painting in 2006. I held group exhibitions at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre in 2006 and 2008, and had a solo exhibition at St. John’s Cathedral in 2009.

Under the influence of one-year stay in Japan from 2015 to 2016, I was interested in the delicacy and beauty of women hair in Japanese paintings and wanted to include this style in paintings. In 2020, I began to study fine brush painting (Gongbi style) and brushstroke painting at the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Art under the guidance of teacher Miss Chik. In 2022, I got inspired by artist Wilson Shieh at his exhibition called “Transcending the Gongbi Tradition” hosted by Hong Kong Land.

From impressionism and expressionism to the delicacy of Japanese painting and Chinese Gongbi painting, the works are a combination of Chinese technique, western concept and Japanese style.
